London Retired Staff Association

Events

The Retired Staff Association met on 14 September 2007 at 11 am. Geraldine Gavin was present to host a talk and lunch followed shortly afterwards. For further details about this event, contact Mary Batten (marybatten327@aol.com).

History

The first meeting was as "The Inner London Retired Officers Association", and was held at Great Peter Street in March 1979. Bill Pearce was Chief Probation Officer.

Later, with Graham Smith as CPO, it was renamed the Inner London Retired Staff Association to include all staff. The first new-format meeting was held in April 1986 with Charles Balchin as Chair and Norah Clarke as Secretary. The association continued thus until March 2001 when the five London Areas amalgamated.

The London Retired Staff Association now has over 150 members, and continues to meet and lunch together in March, June, September and December of each year. A guest speaker is invited to talk for an hour on a variety of subjects both professional and of leisure interest.

Everyone retired from the Service in London is invited to join. The committee is comprised of eight members: our currrent Chairman is Hnery Parker and the Secretary is Mary Batten (marybatten327@aol.com).
