Employee Benefits

1.  Final Salary Pension Scheme

Staff employed by London Probation Trust have the benefit of being eligible to join the Local Government Pension Scheme, which is a final salary scheme and includes provision for early retirement on the grounds of ill health.

These two features make this scheme highly desirable when compared to the usual money purchase/endowment scheme which has pension benefits based on investment fund performance.  The Pension Scheme is contributory with contributions ranging between five and seven per cent depending on salary with a significant employer contribution of approximately three to four times that level.

In addition, scheme members in London may opt to contribute to an Additional Voluntary Contribution scheme administered by Prudential.  Such contributions may attract tax relief depending on the circumstances of the contributor.

For more information see the London Pension Fund Authority website.

2.  Salary Sacrifice Childcare

Through our payroll system, London Probation Trust has arranged a salary sacrifice childcare option. This means that staff who have childcare responsibilities can choose to offset their salary to achieve a tax benefit which will then contribute towards the funding of childcare costs.

3.  Eyesight Tests

Employees are entitled to a reimbursement of the cost of eye and eyesight tests if they are required to regularly work with a Visual Display Unit.

4.  Generous Leave Allowance

London Probation Trust’s basic leave entitlement for all full-time staff (pro-rata for part-time staff) is 27 days inclusive of service days rising to 33 days inclusive.  In addition, there is payment for eight Public/Bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time staff).

5.  Confidential Helpline

24/7 helpline is available for staff to ring for confidential advice on a range of issues covering health, relationships, financial and legal issues.

6.  Flexible Working

London Probation Trust operates a flexible working arrangement whereby staff have some flexibility, subject to agreement with their line manager, in choosing starting and finishing times.

In addition, staff may (subject to work demands and management approval) work additional hours in one flexi-time period which can be accumulated and used to a maximum of two days leave of absence in the following flexi-time period.  The flexi-time period is four weeks.

7.  Season Ticket Loan

London Probation Trust offers an interest-free season ticket loan to all staff who are confirmed in post.  The loan is repaid directly in monthly instalments from your salary.
