How to Get Involved

Interested in employing offenders?

Moving into offender employment is a big step, so we're sure you will have many questions for our team. However, the information below gives you more details on the benefits of employing offenders.

Are there risks to employing offenders?

There are risks to employing any potential staff member, not just offenders from London Probation. All of our offenders are assessed on the sort of risk they could pose to a company and then only matched to jobs that they are suitable for. For example, offenders convicted of fraud will not be referred to jobs in accounts departments.

Why would companies want offenders from London Probation to work for them?

Offenders can fill skills and labour shortages that exist in many industries in London. They are trained and motivated to succeed, with retention rates for offenders comparing favourably to those of non-offenders.

Employing offenders can also enhance a company's reputation. Employing offenders gives them a real opportunity to change their life for the better, and put a stop to their offending behaviour. Reducing re-offending has a significantly positive impact on the offender and the community.

The London Probation Employers’ Toolkit

London Probation have launched an Employers' Toolkit, to give potential employers more information about the benefits of employing offenders, and how to go about it. The toolkit includes a "job stencil" for employers to complete with information of any forthcoming vacancies that London Probation may be able to help you fill.
