London Probation Trust (LPT) is
responsible for managing over 40,000 offenders at any one given
time. We are the largest probation trust in
the UK, covering the 32 boroughs in the capital and accounting for
approximately 20 per cent of all offenders in the
UK.
Our work stretches throughout the criminal justice system – from
recommending sentence proposals to judges and magistrates to
assessing offenders’ progress in prison; to developing (and
running) alternative ‘community’ sentences and making sure
offenders comply with their licence, or other, conditions.
We also manage all Community Payback (formerly known as
Community Service) projects within London, which deliver over a
million hours back to local communities every year.
We're happy to provide you with more information about our work. If
you'd like to speak to someone on our leadership team; find out
what it's like to work on the frontline or discuss the real-life
examples we have of offenders that have benefited from their time
with probation, contact the Media Relations Team using the details
below.
