“This was an appalling crime and our thoughts
and sympathies are with the families of Gabriel Ferez and Laurent
Bonomo at this difficult time.
“Whilst risk can never be eliminated when
managing offenders, we are committed to making London as safe as
possible.
“We are therefore determined to learn all of
the lessons from this case and fully accept all of the
recommendations in the NOMS report. A comprehensive action
plan is now being implemented and significant improvements have
already been made to strengthen our systems and practice.
“Furthermore, we are committed to supporting
improvements to the criminal justice service by continuing to work
closely with the government, police, prison services, the courts
and others involved in protecting the public.
“We welcome the ongoing involvement of
the Inspectorate of Probation and are confident of our ability to
improve our performance.
“Our priority at all times will be to do
everything in our power to protect the people of London. We
