Ken Livingstone and David Scott speaking to an Offender.Ken Livingstone - Mayor of London visited a London Probation Community Payback site this week, as part of the opening of a new Police Station on north London. The new local community Police station in Palmers Green, Enfield will be the headquarters for the local Safer Neighbourhoods team.

Community Payback is part of the Safer Neighbourhoods initiative, so the Mayor visited a nearby site to see offenders carrying out tasks such as grafitti removal and rubbish clearance as part of their Unpaid Work (formerly Community Service/Punishment) orders. Accompanied by David Scott - Chief Officer London Probation, the Mayor spoke to some offenders at the site (above) and also London Probation staff about the Community Payback scheme, and the work they were doing.

Community Payback is a London Probation partnership with the Metropolitan Police and local authorities. It is focused to visibly address crime and the fear of crime, as prioritised by local communities.
